PlayOn Beta Unlocks Netflix, Hulu, and More For Xbox 360, PS3
Posted by XanTium | October 1 22:05 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From 1up.com:
[QUOTE]
1UP Boards has pointed our way to the PlayOn Beta, a new service available for the Xbox 360 and PS3. PlayOn allows Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners to watch Internet content from Netflix, Hulu, CBS, YouTube, ESPN and other video streaming sites on their television.

I've actually been following this service for a while now. Being able to watch all my Netflix on my big screen TV in HD has a lot of appeal. If the full version of MediaMall can beat out the New Xbox Experience update in bringing Netflix support to the 360 (not to mention the other home consoles to boot), they could really gain a lot of popularity.

the link works fine for me.

its not that great, its kinda slow and you need a beefy pc that just stays on all day and dosent do anything that takes up cpu cycles or hdd usage.

im waiting for full rtmp support for xbmc and a hulu plugin. (hopefully the next svn)

Can Hulu be used in the 45 day trial without actually buying it? The user/pass fields are blacked out for me sad.gif

Hm, nevermind. It appears the user/pass isn't required to watch videos. If only it would load videos that are in 'HD' and SD in 'HD', or at least give you the option to.

I'm going to give this a try, but I'm really not expecting anything earth shattering.

To be honest its not that bad of a program even if it a 45 day trial it works out nice the quality for netflix isn't mind blowing but its watchable youtube works out nice and cbs does to. I noticed that if you go to the section in cbs called TV Classics it actual has tv episodeds from old tv programs.

Not a bad program at all I am kind of surprised

Links work, it's just that the article was put out all over the net on various sites and they were getting hit hard. I got on late last night and downloaded it and it's great. Kinda like TVersity for tv shows. Very nice. Although I don't see myself paying for it. It's a 45day trial.

I run XBMC on a Xbox over wireless G. PlayOn works well with Hulu, CBS, YouTube, but the Netflix doesn't work for me.

In the PlayOn support forums, folks are mentioning you have to install the Netflix video plugin on the comp that runs PlayOn so you can watch videos, but I'm still unable to.

I ran the previous PlayOn beta that showed CBS vids nicely on XBMC and X360. Haven't tried latest beta with X360, but I assume the same level of connectivity.

on a side note, Hulu looks GREAT on the 720p upconvert in XBMC to my LCD (which runs up to 1080p). I'll have to double check to see if the 1080i upconvert makes the stuff look okay...

I watched Heros off HULU last night and I must say it wasnt the best quality I have seen. If they are going to charge for this service they need to push HD content as well as cut the darn commercials. That was really lame.

Tried it yesterday on my Ultimate x64 with my 1024K cable line and neflix would just black screen and go back out. Just set up my 1.5Mbs DSL today and now I'm getting a media can't play error. Going to try 32 bit but the site is down...
