A while ago, while playing nfs pro, suddenly I noticed something wrong with the screen, some flickering greenish and reddish lights, and the graphics turned to almost black and white.I signed out then signed in, then, I ejected the dvd disk and cleaned it, nothing happens, I though of restarting, remebering how pc's fix itself in a restart.the worse happened, there is now, only green lights, audio but NO video, I can even control it tru the controler, because I can memorize the sequences of the dashboard, and found out that my xbox is responding, its working perfect exept the video.I am only using a normal TV, anyway, I removed the AV and re inserted it again, and another re start, still no video,Now I am a helpless gamer with a rroded xbox.

My unit is already x-clamped fix, and I fairly know to to re clamp it again if needed, but I needed some advices before taking any move, Please help me, I cant stand a day knowing my xbox is dead.I want to resurrect it sooner. Thanks

Yahoo!! Iaccidentally fixed it,, the first time I tightened the GPU bolts , that was a quarter turn, I loosen a bit, aan eight of a turn, to make a resulting tightening of only 1/8 bolts turn, and did the baking trick bec I have no heatgun.cooled it down and started it, it worked wonders, now its starts perfect, Many thanks wilhelm, you are a blessing to us all, Many thanks, more power

Am glad it worked for you 0100 is kind of unknown and really a pain in the arse, thanks for confirming that it is GPU related...

Yes sir wilhelm, I relied on your websites notes, that there is no known fixes for 0100, but as you mentioned some errors code maybe related to it, and that is probably related to the Gpu, I banked on it.That is why, I was very careful in trying to fix it,listing eveything that I did, to make sure that I can return each things , to where they where from the start.

I intentionally did not touch anything, esp the CPU bolts, kept it as it is, I dont want to create an error to something i assumed to be ok,really, I just did some tensioning of the GPU bolts. thanks wilhelm, you insinuated that it could be GPU related, I banked on that because I believed youve got the wisdom bec you have the heart to help others.

I can attest that the error 0100( I checked this error 3 tmes to be sure) is GPU related and its so sensitive and tricky, just a 1/8 of a turn that makes the difference between life and death to my xbox. What I mean, is just a turn of the bolts for some 30-40 degrees, just barely moved the bolts.I dont know why when I did the same thing, baking and all that , but had tightened the bolts a 1/4 turn, (90 degrees) it didnt work..its so sensitive and tricky really.

Hope this might be of help to some. Thanks

Yes, I can only suggest that one must be very careful in getting the perfect tension of the bolts. It needs patience because there is no easy rule to that. Its a lot of trial and error and restart. Many times I can get out of red lights by just getting the perfect tension of the bolts, without heatgunning and doing the baking trick.sometimes it even took me a day, doing trial and error method in tensioning the heatsink bolts alone, but it pays.At the end of the day, it feels good to have revived my xbox once more.It seems there is no permanent fix just yet anyway but its a good thing there is always something that can be done to xbox . smile.gif and it makes me smarter each time. biggrin.gif

OMG!!!

Xboxgamer815 has hit on a wonderful cure.

May I stress that I also had no video, or sound. Had a black screen with crawling dots.
Everyone said scaler chip and the only way was to gun the thing.

Took off my heatsink. Tightened the bolts by 1/8th of a turn.
Guess what??

YES!!!!!!!! IT WORKS !!!

Let it burn in with COD4 for the last 4 hours solid (very intensive on the GPU). Still working like a dream.

Might I also add that I had sanded my heatsink to a really smooth finish.
Arctic Silver on the gpu
Modded the shroud so it goes over both heatsinks.

My 360 is now 10 degrees cooler

Ahhh ...... /me reminisces of the Duron overclocking days. Exactly the same process.
/me wishes Microsoft had taken lessons from those early days

I will keep it burning in and will keep you informed as to it's progress

Thanks again xboxgamer815

As I said, its only by chance that i found this cure biggrin.gif

But since I had been fixing my 2 xbox 360 units many times after each rrod, I finally learned a simple trick,
just a little change of the heat sinks bolts tension, makes a lot of difference, It needs a lot pf patience finding that perfect tension..but as a rule of thumb, start trying at the least tension, just 2 fingers rotating the screw driver.
as wilhelm says , just to make it snug.

1/8 of a turn, either loosening or tightening make wonders biggrin.gif
