NXE - What You Want to Know: Xbox LIVE Marketplace
Posted by XanTium | October 10 21:00 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From the Xbox PR Blog:
[QUOTE]
Does this sound familiar? You are sitting at your computer, most likely at work or school and you check out Xbox.com (I won't tell, or will I? MUAHAHA), to see what new content is up on Marketplace. Maybe you see a new Theme you want to download, or notice that the map pack you've been waiting for has finally arrived.

So, you sit there and let the profanity fly (hopefully in your head) because there's nothing you can do, but wait until you get home. Those sexy Gamerpics, movies and additional levels just sit there and mock you saying, 'I know you want me, but you'll have to wait to queue me up for the download.'

Guess what? Not anymore.

Once the New Xbox Experience launches you will be able to browse Xbox LIVE Marketplace on your PC (even using text search) - and if you see something you like, you can add it to your queue and even purchase it right there and then. As soon as you get back home to your Xbox 360 and turn it on, the content will begin to download. Think about it - by the time you finish getting out of your shirt and tie, or skirt, or pajamas, or pink fuzzy bunny outfit, you will have a new Xbox LIVE Arcade game to play or a new TV show to watch.

Check out the screens of Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web, coming November 19 when the New Xbox Experience launches on our flickr set.

i remember MS was talking about this a long time ago. however, there was an extra layer on it. they originally said your xbox would turn on in low power mode and download the items. i think that is cooler but, this will definitely work for the time being. i wasn't expecting this feature with NXE so i'm excited.

Here's what I want to know: If your Xbox is already turned on and signed in to Xbox Live, will it automatically begin downloading as soon as you queue an item from the web, or does it only check for queued downloads on sign-in?

I like this idea, saves me from browsing for DLC through the marketplace on the box.

Great feature, I really hate searching for stuff on Live now using the pad, it takes ages to scroll around and try to find what I want. PC based browsing and queuing sounds wonderful, another reason to look forward to the new dash.

What about the content that is IP region locked such as movies, Gears of War maps, Duke Nukem 3D, etc... ? Will you spend you Microsoft Points when browsing the Xbox Live marketplace on the PC and when you turn on the Xbox 360 console to start the download it will say "This item is not available from you current location" ?

are we going to finally get a bigger queuing list?
Mine fills up way too quick on the 360, and the pc would take seconds to fill

Remove my 25GB ISP cap and I would be happy to fill up a bigger queing list.

I'd guess it'll work the same as browsing Marketplace while using the Xbox. You'll have to be logged in on your gamertag and depending on which country you're from you will only see the content available to you. That's what happens with at the moment with the 360 anyway. If I log in on my UK account I see a UK version of Marketplace, If I log into my US account I see the US Marketplace. Also I don't think any MSP would be deducted if you got the "This item is not available from you current location".
