Microsoft Confirms Feature Cut from New Xbox 360 Dashboard
Posted by XanTium | October 13 22:40 EST | News Category: Xbox360
From shacknews.com: [QUOTE] Following up on reports that the new Xbox 360 dashboard will no longer feature photo and movie sharing, Microsoft has confirmed with Shacknews that the software update will launch without the ability to share movies with other Xbox Live members.
However, the update will still feature online Photo Sharing functionality when it arrives as a free software download on November 19. The company explained that comments from Xbox senior strategist Rob Gruhl regarding the addition of Photo Sharing were hypothetical, meant to stress that the software is dynamic and can be easily updated. What do they mean sharing though? Does this mean you can't just send a movie to a friend or you cant watch it together with a friend using the new party system?
I read the actual article and figured it out, oh well, I dont really know anyone that I would want to watch a movie with online anyway. At the end of the article it says that movie sharing will be coming soon after the NXE launch so it's not as much cut as it is delayed.

yeah, the summary on XS makes it sound a lot worse than it really is. basically, microsoft said you could watch a slideshow or a movie with up to 8 friends. basically, the movie stuff isn't ready yet so it won't be included in the launch on nov 19th. big deal, when it arrives we can all cry tears of joy, until then, i'm sure we have enough games to keep us busy

I wonder if they cut this feature because Sony recently announced Home wouldn't come with it either? It sounded like a pretty good idea to me.
it isn't totally cut. it'll arrive at a unspecified later date through an update. however, it is possible they didn't ship with this feature because of it not being in Home either.
