Xbox 360 NXE Preview Dashboard Leaked
Posted by XanTium | October 31 23:00 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From platformnation.com:
[QUOTE]
Apparently someone leaked the install files for the NXE on the internet and it is now available for all to try out. Now just to let you all know, YOU CAN NOT CONNECT ONLINE WITH IT TILL NOVEMBER 19th, it will not allow you, so if you plan to game, do not use this. Also there is no guarantee that Microsoft will not ban your console or get angry at you, so USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Works like a charm. I can live without Live for a few weeks to play with this.

I've had the "leak" all day today. The reason it is worth it for me to have it now and not wait until Nov. 19th is simple. Installing games to the hard drive speeds them up a lot. For example, if you played Midnight Club:LA you would know the loading at the beginning is unbearable, almost 5min wait. Install it first thing, and not joke, i waited less then 5sec. I was expecting a slight speed up, turned my head looked back and it said press start already. smile.gif

If i can turn on a game and play it right away like that, then I can wait 19 more days to play live again for that.

Doesn't the preview come out on the 1? So shouldn't it work then?

Also, if I take this and install it on my flashed 360, but share the HDD between 360's what will happen to the 360 I use for live?

I think im still going to do this regardless of live access...

It is nice to hear some unbiased reviews but I think I will still wait until the release date.

No and no.

That would be the same as installing it to your flashed 360. Doesn't matter how you get the update to the other box. The HDD is just a means of storage.

The "Install to HDD" feature seems to be kind of picky. I've already had it whine a few times about a dirty disc yet the disc works fine when playing a game. After a couple tries it installed it fine though. Hopefully MS just needs to tweak it a bit and release an update in the near future. From what I see it only tries copying once and if it errors up it just gives up and shows you a "unreadable" error. A better way would be to either automatically retry three times or ask the user if they want to retry at the part it couldn't read. Also, it'd be nice if they saved what was already installed so if the disc needs cleaning you can continue where you left off.

Anyone who uses a PC monitor with the MS VGA Cable does the new supported resolutions 1680x1050 and 1440x900 working correctly?

Because i see a gray bar at the bottom of the screen when i choose one of the two, other resolutions are working perfectly.

I have the MS vga cables and a 1680x1050 monitor, and all I can say is: Bleh. I was just playing GoW before I did the update and now after there is a noticeable difference in the color and clarity of the picture. Its fizzy and washed out. Even the dashboard is fuzzy (especially when you press the guide button, oh that menu is unbearable). Im hoping this is just a problem of this beta version, otherwise M$ is gonna get hell from me. Looks fine @ 1080p w/ HDMI cables on my living room LCD tho, so I guess its just a VGA issue.
