MS: 360 surprises coming in 2009, most not announced
Posted by XanTium | November 3 17:30 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From videogamer.com:
[QUOTE]
Speaking to VideoGamer.com in an interview to be published later this week, Microsoft's UK head of gaming and entertainment Stephen McGill said that there was "lots of great stuff" coming in 2009 that people "don't know about".

McGill said: "Well I know a lot of the games coming out from us and our third parties. Most of them, in fact, have not been announced because everyone's very focused on what's out for Christmas. So it would do our third party partners a disservice for me to announce their great line-ups before they're ready to."

When asked if Microsoft had surprises in store for 360 owners in 2009, McGill replied: "You could expect that, yeah absolutely."

This is pretty much just a PR thing. It's not like he'd respond like this:

Question: Any surprises for 2009?

McGill: Nope, nothing. We figured after NXE we'd pretty much take 2009 off.

Of course there could be some really major things coming to the 360 or it could just be some cheesy new MS developed games that are just beginning to be hyped up. Either way, this article certainly doesn't hint at which it is. tongue.gif

I agree with the first two posters.

What I mean is I was also thinking "hmmm.. Alan Wake is finally coming?" when this news article talked about new games.

Then again, I also knew in the back of my mind that this is likely 90% PR talk as the second poster said. Of course a MS rep at any level in the company is going to make general claims about surprises when asked.

But here's to hoping there's much more in store afterall.

Some possibilities:

** Halo 3: Recon
** Alan Wake
** Xbox 360 Motion Controller (codenamed "Newton")
** Xbox 360 IPTV service (it's already long overdue and hasn't been discussed for over a year by MS)
** XBL Community Games
** Xbox 360 Blu-ray addon

Before anyone bashes me saying "yeah but he said unannounced stuff!" keep in mind that it doesn't mean he's only referring to stuff no one's heard about. It very well could be rumored things and semi-announced stuff, too.

Lets file this next to Duke Nukem Forever for the time being tongue.gif

I'd love to see what MS has for 2009. I thought they'd be dead in the water for this year after last years AMAZING hit list, but they've done it again! Roll on next year!

I'm relieved to discover that MS isn't pulling the plug on the 360 in 2009. If they hadn't said this, I was sure to think they were giving up rolleyes.gif Hopefully Nintendo & Sony will inform us if they plan to continue to do business in 2009 soon, so we know who's winning.

Now which company is "Doing A Sony". Seems to remind me of the usual Sony promises. Big things are coming in the future. We won't reveal what they are yet. That usually means they don't know what may be coming yet but like to keep everyone hoping their favourite thing is arriving in 2009

2009 announcement: We are now going to ban everyone with the letter I in their gamer tag. It is not team oriented and thus offensive!

Annoucement of the XBOX1080

Comes with BD technology
Can only be used on High Def systems

Offers excellent graphics, but the noise of the fans is like a jet taking off

120GB Hard Drive (whoever needs more, must be a pirate)

Motion sensing controller, that works (some of the time)

No long RROD as the lights are now Blue.

And best of all not compatible with the XBOX or XBOX360 games but those games have been adapted for the XBOX1080 and are now readily available to buy and download from the MS Marketplace.

I concur with the 2nd post, some decent updates for the media center extender should be coming out, support for this has been pathetic, if they're gonna advertise their system for having an extra functionality as media center extender, they might as well give it proper support for the most common codecs instead of just their own codecs.
