New Xbox Experience Causing HDMI Sound Loss Issues
Posted by XanTium | November 21 17:17 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From gizmodo.com:
[QUOTE]
According to a long thread at the AVForums, several Xbox 360 users are losing all sound after upgrading to the New Xbox Experience.
Fortunately, there seems to be a fix:
* Turn off the Xbox 360.
* Remove the hard drive.
* Turn on the Xbox 360.
* When the Dashboard loads, put the hard drive back.

Apparently, the fix is only temporary. If you turn of the Xbox, you will have to receive the process

Not showing up yet on mine. Working fine. It will get an extended run at the weekend so will report in if it has an issue.
If it is an issue a fix will be forthcoming.

Don't use sound on my tv, had to sand the original a/v hookups for optical. Yes you read that right, sand.

It's fine with my HDMI connection.

But totally of topic, has anyone noticed that the fans don't completely turn of when you turn off the 360 now after the NXE update if that makes any sense. Say 10-20sec depending how long your 360 has been on?? I don't know if they are cooling the boards when the console is off. Or is it an issue with mine blink.gif

That doesn't even make sense man. The original AV hookups are the typical component/RCA we are all used to. Sanding them down doesn't make it optical. unsure.gif

You need a separate optical connector for that.

I just removed the plastic cover so I could use the optical port.

Anyways...

My setup is working fine, I'm using a Westinghouse 37" 1080p Monitor combined with a generic gold plated hdmi cable (1.3a) . No issues whatsoever.

This isn't really a new issue. I've had this happen to my Xbox 360 months before I got the NXE update.

I think he means he's using an HDMI cable and the original component adapter, with the component adapter just for the optical port.
so he has: HDMI to TV, the component adapter's optical going to his soundsystem.

No problems here. Got 2 HDMI units with NXE and never had any sound loss.

That's exactly what I meant sorry I didn't know it was going to cause an uproar. But anyway, tested on my 360 and tv and no problems yet.

I noticed this too. Probably just cooling the xbox off.

I have no sound issues with HDMI but I have mine hooked via HDMI directly to the TV and optical to my receiver.

I have this issue, and so does my floormate. It has something to do with the HDMI handshake between the TV and the console, as it only affects certain TV's (we have Vizio 26 inch TV's, and both were affected after the update). Certain Benq monitors are affected as well, as far as I know. The fix is simple(just hold down right trigger + Y to reset video settings upon system start), however it's annoying to have to do this EVERY TIME you power the console on. Microsoft better release a fix soon >:o
