I got a few questions I want to ask and if someone could answer me I would greatly appreciate it.

1. Is there a easy way to see if I'm running anything that could interfere with the transfer process to my 120 gb harddrive coming in the mail of my western digital 120 gb evs harddrive coming in the mail. Cause I checked my computer settings and think it is running the nvidia stuff mentioned that could interfere getting it to work, but not 100% sure.. here's what I got..

Under my display adapters: Nvidia GeForce6150 LE
Under Network Adapters: Nvidia nForce Networking controller
Nvidia Network Bus Enumulator
Under System Devices: NForce Hyper Transport Bridge
a Bunch of Nvidia Memory Controllers
and last Nvidia Nforce PCI System management

What exactly do I need if I need it to get my computer to work right with these? I'm just trying to figure out what I need to do before this 120 gb hd I'm getting in the mail gets here.

2. I have a 20 gb harddrive on my 360 that I would love to be able to transfer all my saves and stuff over to this 120 gb after I get it setup.. Is it possible to transfer the stuff from my 20 to the 120 easily? Oh btw I do have certain games that are copy protected from what I heard like Dead or Alive 4 and Ninja Gaiden 2 and wonder if those would transfer fine along with both my rock band save files.

I know I maybe asking alot but I just want to try and figure out what to do before it gets here before I run into some complications is all. I would greatly appreciate some assistance on this. Thanks smile.gif

Small question....

My current 20GB drive has nothing on it that i need.

So... after i format the new 120GB drive in my 360, will i still need to hook it back up to the PC to move over the partitions or can i just do the recovery for my gamertag/live account and start using the drive right away?

you should be fine to just do the recovery and start loading the new drive with content.

I have 3 set of info. returned, I tried one by one. Indeed, it doesn't hurt you (the HD) if you picked a wrong one, since it's just used for editing the file, hddhackr. Once rebooted and reported that it cannot detect the HD, try another set of info. Mine HD was detected at the 2nd time.

You need the Xbox Emulator on partition 1 if you want to play old xbox 1 games

Greets to all! I have a few quick questions re: this HDD upgrade mod if you have the time...

I just got a 120GB BEVS in the mail and I'm ready to do the mod. I have a brand new 20GB 360 which I have not even turned on yet.

1. Should I turn on the 360 and setup my account and install the latest dashboard and such with the 20GB still in (i.e. before doing the mod)? Or does it matter?

2. Since it's a brand new 360, I obviously don't need anything off the drive. I also don't plan on playing Xbox 1 games. So do I need to bother with any copying of partitions?

I was planning to just:
- hook up the WD120 to my PC as only SATA device
- boot to DOS off a USB key
- run hddhackr -f
- reboot and do it again to confirm
- put the drive back in the 360 and format from the dashboard

3. I was going to use hddss.bin which I got from Xbins instead of making my own. Then I read this on another forum:

"if you're online with your custom hard drive, and the other person is online with the real hard drive that you copied, then you could both get banned from Live."

Is this true?! I thought hddss.bin was just some hex data with MS's security sector. If it's somehow tied to the drive it was generated on, I guess I should make my own, right? Or is this guy full of it...

Thanks for your time!

Thanks for replying, alas I have the 00VAT0 drive (two of them, ordered 1 for a buddy so I hope it works!). I read on several forums where people got these to work so I'm optimistic.

After doing some further research I figured out the hddss.bin file has to come from a 120GB drive anyway. Well since I'm upgrading TO a 120GB how could I possibly have my own to make my own Bin file? Strange all the guides leave that part in. If you already have a 120GB drive, why are you bothering to upgrade?

So I'm glad to hear you say there's no banning for this mod! I'm pretty much forced to use a public BIN file.

Sorry I can't help with the Undo (I assume, since I have the 00VAT0 model).

Quick question for you kind sir's please...

Has anyone seen this happen to there 360 after doing a HDD swap. (I swapped a 20GB Samsung GB for a 120GB WD BEVS) EVERYTHING seems to be working just fine EXCEPT that when I login to my 360 the auto login feature no longer works. I have to login with my Gamertag every time the 360 starts up, this is annoying because I'm the only one that ever plays this 360. I have the new dashboard so I can't turn on the autologin feature in the guide under profile options, (or where ever it is in the old dashboard). Is this a common problem or am I just doing something stupid wrong? Thanks so much in advance kind gents! smile.gif

you are going to have to find out where the option is. there is a setting somewhere in the dash that will allow you to automatically sign into your profile. i upgraded my drive prior to the nxe upgrade, and did experience the same thing as you, but was able to fix it before upgrading.

perhaps try googling for auto signin nxe or something like that
