Hi guys,

in the "Liteon Key For Free!, how to dump your liteon using salvaged parts" topic some one posted a diagram and I have a couple of questions on it. I hope some one could help me. I just copied the post I posted in that topic. The post was too complicated for that topic.

---Original Post---

ok guys just one question. If i use the following schematic which was posted earlier in this thread:

IPB Image

SO all I need to do is connected the Tx from the drive (transmission from DVD drive) to the Rx of the schematic above (Receiving with the schematic). Am I right until now?

So as we are only receiving information from the LiteOn drive and we are not transmitting something through the serial port I do not need to connect the Tx from the schematic above to anything. Right???

Now all I am left with is the 3.3V and GND of the schematic. So is it true that i could just connect those to pin 6 (for 3.3v) and pin 5, 7, 9 or 11 (for GND) to the DVD's power connector??? I mean the following connector.

IPB Image

I am new to all of this and so kind of trying to understand my question is just did I understand it correctly now?
The only question left for me now (if I understand this correctly) where can I find a DVD power plug as illustrated above. so lets say a converter which would convert the power from my computer's PSU to such a plug so I can powerup the DVD player without the need of my xbox.

---End Original Post---

As you can see I am not totally into this stuff, I am a little noob on the field but trying to learn some stuff. I found a schematic showing the pin layout of the DVD power plug. I could also build a simple button on the PCB to have an eject button if i am right.

Hopefully some one can help me out with this, thanks in advance.

You only need connect the TX wire RX is not needed connect the tx wire to the empty hole in the connector no 1
get your 3.3 volt power from the board if you like

thnx buddy 6,

so no connection needed for the Tx or Rx??? because Rx wire from my chip would be the receiving end right? so i should put that one on the Tx of the DVD drvie am I right?

r=receiver t=transmitter. so tx from dvd drive connected to rx from my homemade chip right?

i know i can get power from some other source and just connect the ground wire from the dvd player to the computer.

but i'd rather not power up my xbox without the drive connected. so i am looking for the plug so i can power the drive also from my computer PSU and aso make an eject button on it. anyone telling me where to get that power plug for the xbox dvd drive would be awesome. or anyone here with a broken xbox he's gonna throw away, I would love to have that DVD power cable and connector.

connect the tx wire from the rs232 to empty hole in connector no 1
forget the rx not needed dont connect to rx
you can use your xbox to power the drive ,connectivity kit ,or xbox they both work ok
