"- Connect your drive with a serial cable to the COM port" - from the readme. Think we will need to dump the key via serial for quite some time atleast. After this nothing is impossible. Great work on all this stuff.

This looks like it still requires some gadget connected to the com port along with needing to poke the 707 hole. I think it's just a better version for those with VIA cards, which is probably the majority.

I don't think you need the probe. at no time do the instructions tell you to use probe etc..
however you still need a connectivity kit that has the com port or the usb to usb will work too.
That's my understanding until someone proves me otherwise.
You need either a probe or you need to bridge the 2 points inside for the serial to be accessible through the power plug and have a CK with the serial connections connected.

thanks for confusing me again !!!!
I have the diygadget ck...it has a alligator clip and probe. So I follow instructions from their site to extract the key. I want to use dosflash .7 to extract the key as it seems I get the serial info also. The tutorial on diygadgets.com says to use xtract reader.

I have the problem where it is freezing in windows after I tried to erase. It also freezes my PC in dos. Any ideas? Drive will not eject or anything, but I have the keys. First liteon went okay.

I got it erased (reported ff72) but it still freezes in dos and windows with my VIA and Silicon Images cards so I cannot get it recognized to write in DOS or windows.
