BenHeck's Xbox 360 Pelican Case
Posted by XanTium | December 24 22:38 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From benheck.com:
[QUOTE]
My latest project is an Xbox 360 stuffed inside of a Pelican 1490 case. The intention here to create a "tough" portable Xbox 360 that can be transported with ease.
This unit includes:
* 17″ widescreen LCD monitor.
* Built-in speakers.
* Power cable compartment.
* Reworked top-loading DVD drive.
* Removable hard drive.
* Ethernet and USB ports.

I wish the video had shown a disk being loaded. Changing the drive to top loading is a very interesting mod. I was wondering if the DVD drive lid was rigged to have motorized opening or if it was something much simpler.

Nice job Benheck,

It's much simpler than that, basically all that's on the top part of the lid is a magnetic spindle which lifts the disk up allowing it to spin so fast. So basically all you'd have to do is have a hinge in which the spindle would be able to go back to the original location then it would work like normal. Just have to deactivate the eject function (or put in a different tray)

Probably in the same place you'd carry your games and other stuff: a backpack.

Very nice job, i like it better than the laptop... never seen one in a breifcase so to speak..
What i would also like to see is a xbox360, inside of a dvd ( or blueray ) player so its a 2 in 1 with a fold up/down monitor... or inside of an DVR 2 in 1.

Keep up the good work!!!!

he does sell these things for a living you know, and there are people out there willing and capable of paying more than the production costs for this kind of mods.

Awesome as always but I think ideally he should have used one of the deeper pelican cases so there would be room for controllers and games as well.
