Except that there are nearly 135 million PS2s out there, so even with replacements, that is a lot, and now over 40 million Wiis, that is a hell of a lot of gamers that have eschewed next-gen graphics.
i'm guessing the 17million live users gets us closer to actual 360s functioning in homes. If you said say 22 million alive 360s that doesn't put them that far ahead of the 20 million PS3s, though i guess a lot of the early units might only be used as bluray players.

You know, it's still amusing to see people bring up the RROD. The damn problem is covered by warranty so as a consumer, if the problem arises, I know I won't have to pay to get it repaired.
Just drop the RROD arguement already.
I chose the 360 for the games available on the platform - plain and simple. That also explains why you see stories of people who are on their N-th 360 despite the RROD problem. While there are some out there who would just throw their hands up and buy a competing console, the trend seems to be that many of the 360 owners are quite brand loyal.
Except that the older models are now out of warranty.
