Hello, I just recently stumbled upon something that is really starting to frusterate me. I have an Hitachi drive with iXtreme 1.5 f/w. Everything has worked fine for about two months and just the other day my drive stopped reading backups completely. It reads originals and dvd's but no longer backups. I use Verb's for my media and have tried cleaning the laser and rails with alcohol.

When I put a backup in it the laser just sits near the center area and move back and forth about 3-4 times and then stops. It is then followed by three clicking noises. All backups have been patched and have worked before. It just stopped recently and I can't get any to work now.

My main question is would this be a pot issue and should I go out and get a multimeter to adjust it or is this possibly something else?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

think you mean ixtreme 1.4 and it is probably a pot issue. Prob fix that or get a new laser.

Where's the best place to get a laser from?

Also can I get a second opinion that it's either a pot or laser issue?

Thanks for the reply.

Quick update. Yes, it's 1.4 sorry about that.

I also just swapped out the lens and it does the exact same thing.

It boots originals and dvd's but not backups.

So I can rule out the lens being the problem.

Any other suggestions?
