HI, I am about to perform my second flash. My first flash went fine and have not had any problems since. I used this guide Cofree Samsung Iprep 008.8. I did not use a connectivity kit for this flash, but I was wondering if I SHOULD use one for my brand new benq? Are there any advantages? Also, I am assuming I can use this guide CoFree's Benq with Iprep v008.8 and just use the power from the 360 instead of the kit like I did before?
Thanks in advance!

The connectivity kit just makes life a little easier so you dont have to move your whole 360 next to your pc just to power the dvd drive your flashing. Its just a matter of do you want to invest the extra money in buying a connectivity kit. But yes you can certainly use the 360 to power your benq drive for flashing like you did your other drive you flashed.

cool thanks, since my xbox and pc share the same monitor, they are already next to each other. so i guess I have no use for a connectivity kit. Also another quick question... does a white wire in a drive 100% mean that it is a Benq drive? I ask because I was not expecting a benq drive at all, but to my surprise, the white! At least I am PRETTY sure it is white... I guess it could be light yellow?

If they are white it should be BenQ. What is the manufacture date on the back of the console?

wow i really can not tell if the wires are yellow or white. I am taking it apart as I type, my manufacturing date is 2008-10-30, and the only other xbox 360 I found with a matching date, lot, and team from the database, said it was a benq. But mine looks yellow in the right lighting. I guess I will find out in a few minutes.

Okay, I guess I got excited for no reason. It looks like I have a Liteon drive (it says Philips-Lite-on). So now I gotta educate in myself in this whole thing. Unless I could get a basic outline/ list of components I need? Got via chipset, and am guessing I need a probe, a connectivity kit (?), and a serial port (which I do not have!!!).

I guess I have the same question.... so do I need the connectivity kit for a lite-on drive? Also, is the com port only used if I use a connectivity kit? Could Ijust buy a probe and be good to go?

I did not want to double post... but it seems like I can not edit my post again?

Anyways, I think I understand now that the com port is used with the CK3, but I just want to make sure that I can for sure just buy a ck3 probe (without the lite or pro kit) and just use my xbox 360 to power the Lite-on and use the Lite-on to power the probe (and not connect the other end of the probe's cable in to anything).

Hi

You wont be able to do it with just a probe, you will need either a lite or pro and follow this guide:

http://team-xecuter.com/ck3/liteon_windows.htm

or use frostys boot disk.
