I tryed upgrading the bios (to get bigger harddrive support (200gb drive installed, only a couple of a few hundred mb partitions showed up)
The bios upgrade went along fine, no errors or odd behaviors..

but after shutdown it wont come back on..

the green lights on the front turn on, then off again a few times before red/green leds start blinking.
i tryed the "rescue dvd" that i got with my xbox, but with no luck..
it wont power on the remote, nor outputting anything to the tv..

I just bought the xbox used, have no idea about the platform nor my specifications..
Can anyone help?

or is the trashcan the next home for my xbox?

What version Xbox? This and this should help.

Chip or TSOP?

If chip, which chip?

Which BIOS did you flash?

Which flashing tool did you use?

The xbox is v 1,6.

The chip is a red alladin "live" chip, unshure of details, nothing else written on it.

The bios version is unobtainable at the moment, since i got it on a disc with the xbox, (with a bunch of versions) and its not readable in my mac..

i used the "default" one when booting up the cd, evox, some sort of recoverycd with background ad for psxcare.com (swedish chip-store)

im very sorry i cant provide more info.. sad.gif
I figure i need to replace the chip, so i ordered myself a new one (similar) and hopefully it will fit the pin socket without too much lube and/or curses.. smile.gif

It's possible that you flashed a 1.0-1.5 BIOS, which is why your Xbox is no longer working. With an Aladdin chip then the only way to recover from a bad flash is to hotswap it into another Xbox with a chip, then reflash, or to replace the chip as you are doing. Which chip have you ordered?

When you get the new chip make sure you flash it with a 1.6 BIOS. If it's a DuoX2 then you can use x2_5035_v16plus_512k.bin, if it's a 256k chip you'll have to use Evox M8plus_16.bin.

Once it's working you'll be able to hotswap the original chip back and reflash it, so you'll have a spare!

the new chip is a DUO-X2.
will the two rows of pins match?

the aladin chip isnt soldered on, but the above mentioned two rows of pins..
will thease need to be replaced?

and by hot swapped, you mean swap the cards while booted??

its not that i dont belive you, but im raised with computers and thats pretty much the last thing i would try, before throwing the box away... smile.gif

your assistance is GREATLY appreciated, will update on wednesday when i (hopefully) get my new chip smile.gif

DuoX2 is a good choice. You should be able to just plug it in to the existing pinheader, so long as the installation looks correct. You will need to solder the BT and D0 wires. Have a look at this picture for details of what a DuoX2 installation should look like.

Yes, I mean hotswap as in unplug the chip while the Xbox is running!
