Damn!! Thank you for your information. I've been looking for this PCMCIA card so long!! Thank you again!!

And let me ask you few questions.

1. How long it takes you get it??

2. Did you just connect that PCMCIA card and install its original PCMCIA driver??

3. My xbox 360 has Samsung DVDROM. So can I just do flash using the jungle flasher??

I will be appreciated if you answer these questions. Thank you smile.gif

1) Took me about 1 week to receive but I was told it would take 2 weeks.

2) I used the original drivers that came with the unit

3) I did the flash using a thinkpad laptop using the xecuter ck3 with the latest version of jungleflash (.43)

keep in mind that the unit needs a molex power connector (the usb cable does not provide power to the entire unit, just the USB com chip).

to work around this (as I do not have a desktop) I took an old usb cable, stripped it re worked an old molex connector to provide 5v power to the chip and joined the two.

so remove the yellow/black leads (right next to each other) from the molex and just use the red/black leads (on the right side, looking down on the chip, with molex wires coming out toward you) and connect those to the red/black on the usb cable.

EDIT: better yet, follow a guide like this one (expect you will need to do the female side):

hey, thanks for the link, been looking for a way to flash with laptop. got 1 question though, what is the point of the connectivity kit? can i just hook up the dvd-drive (powered by the 360) to this PCMCIA card?

sorry if that's a dumb question, but i've been trying to figure out what the point of the connectivity kit is.

I got that card too - but I'm having problems to put my Benq 6038 to vendor mode.
I suspect it's something to do with drivers of the card. I also used drivers which come with the card.
Strange thing that I noticed is that card ports detected in Windows and Slax Linux are not the same.

Do you remember port value you used for putting it to vendor mode?
Mine are 0xFDD0 and 0xFDC0.

@ vast_lxa
did you use the benq unlock on the lastest version of jungle flash? I used both the stock drivers on the disc and the stock drivers that came with visa. both worked fine.

@ rocketrollins
do you have the drivers install for the vt6421 as well as the drivers for portio?

to date I have flashed the following drives on my t400 in vista using this card:

Samsung M25
Samsung M28
Benq vad6038
Liteon

have yet to get my hands on a hitachi

hey batman-

i ordered the same card you have a few weeks ago, and have yet to get it to work with my laptop. I found this thread looking for help on google, so maybe you can help me out.

I don't really even know where to start, it seems my laptop doesn't recognize it. I plug it in, no pop ups saying detected new hardware, and no apparent changes in device manager. If i try installing the drivers from the cd it came with, it says the hardware can't be found.

Am i doing something wrong?

Try the card out on another laptop, if it still doesnt work, you probably have a bad card and need to send it back or ask for a replacement. If it works on another laptop, you might need to play around with the bios/OS or even power settings to get it to detect (some laptops turn off features to save battery life)

I have now ordered 2 cards from these guys (for another friend who wanted to do his own). Both work flawlessly.

I don't think I'll deal with them again. I first ordered this card, but received a firewire card instead. I then returned it and it took weeks for the right card to get to me.

Anyway, noob question, but where can I mess with the bios? I'm assuming you mean the "press f2" or whatever when you're booting up your computer to get to the setup menu. If so, I haven't seen anything in there.

depends on the laptop, sometimes its del key or f2. go to the site for your laptop and look it up. dont mix this up with entering safe mode in xp or vista (F8 key)

but it would make more sense to actually test out the card on another laptop to ensure you have a working care. also dust can build up in the pcmcia port and might clog the connectors, be sure to watch out for that.
