Okay, here's the situation. I was soldering my wired controller while it was plugged in to the xbox, while the xbox was on (I know I'm an idiot). I must have shorted something, so the xbox turned off, the power supply light turned red, and I tripped a circuit breaker in my basement. I quickly unplugged everything and reset the circuit breaker. The PSU is fine because it works with my other xboxes. I turned the xbox back on with the controller unplugged, and my Hitachi drive refuses to open or read discs. The laser blinks a few times a little after startup. Oh, everything else works though. I took apart the drive and manually released it, and the xbox said "opening..." but couldn't close it, and wouldn't try to read when I closed it.

Could this be a problem with the motherboard or just the DVD drive?
I see no apparent damage to either the motherboard or the DVD drive PCB.

I have a multimeter, but don't know what to test.

Update: I got RROD error 0001 when messing around inside, but that was just once. I never got that on the xbox that works.

Any help would be appreciated! laugh.gif
