New ZuneHD device could play Xbox Live games
Posted by XanTium | April 15 08:01 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From pocketgamer.co.uk:
[QUOTE]
Details on this new device are still pretty sketchy, but it's sounding as though it'll be compatible with Microsoft's software development kit, XNA.

To those of us who know nothing of coding, this essentially gives the ZuneHD the potential to play Xbox Live games, and with the rumour of a touchscreen also circulating, this could be the Xbox Portable Bill's boys have been so avidly denying.

It would seem like a wasted opportunity for Microsoft to release a new PMP that doesn't give the iPhone at least a bit of competition, so fingers crossed the ZuneHD will live up to the rumours.

Yeah, cause you can't dev for the existing Zune with XNA... oh wait, you can.

Really, if they made a new one, they aren't going to ditch that ...

If it supports XBLA games and Xbox Live video content I would be all over this.

Heh you beat me to it! The existing zune can indeed already use the XNA. In fact, anybody who uses visual studio can download the Zune template for free from the developers site and create and debug natively on the zune. In fact, with the new zune software and firmware, it actually comes with two games on XBLive already: Texas Hold'em Poker and Hexic. And touchscreen on the new zune? Oh boy...I hear the screams of a thousand apple fanboys now.

arg, I wish people wouldn't go so nuts over touch screens. Until someone comes up with a way of providing accurate tactile feedback I won't buy a device with a touch screen.

Judging by the sales, touch screens are what many people want. Deal with it.

I've yet to see one up close and personal over on the island here because absolutely no-one CARES ABOUT IT!!!!!

I'm inundated with websites and adverts and everything from m$, yet you try finding one here.

Sorry, but they should have done this a lot sooner.
Aint gonna change me from my Ipod now.
Tough shite.

If I could play Live arcade games that I already bought on the 360 without rebuying them, and maybe online play through my gamertag. Wow if they did that.
