I just got a new BenQ DVD drive to replace the busted one. I just wanted to make sure that all I have to do is stick the PCB from the old one into the new one. Is this correct?

Thanks

Well depends on whats wrong with the old one. You could spoof the new one with the old one's data as well and that would fix things without having to swap boards.

I wish. I have an old computer. No SATA. Can't flash.

The board from the old one shouldn't have any problems, though. So switching should do it....right?

The motor that drives the laser is burnt out on the old one. I have verified this by switching the motor out of the new drive into the old one.
The PCB Board is fine.
I could use the old drive (with the new motor) but now that I have a brand new drive I might as well use it.

I just wanted to make sure that all I need to do to clone/spoof the old one is switch the boards.

I am not able to flash the drive, and I know that the old pcb is fine. So switching the old board in the new drive should be all I need to do. Right?

yea but you have to unsolder the wires and solder them to the old board. Not too hard to do just do it one at a time.
