Hi, I purchased a refurbished xbox 360 from overstock.com. To make a long story short we were robbed and the xbox 360 was stolen. We never wrote down the serial number from the xbox 360 or hooked it up to play live. I do have the original box. It has the regular sticker with barcodes etc., from which I gather are not the serial numbers from doing a google search... But there is a yellow license plate sticker that has a 15 digit number (no letters just numbers) could this possible be a serial number. Just trying to find it, cuz the sheriffs busted some people and they found my wii (which I had the serial number), and they found an xbox 360, but I don't have my serial number. Any help would greatly be appreiated.

if you registered the console goto xbox.com and look if not it could be the yellow sticker you found but who knows.

The sheriff I spoke with said they were gonna plug it in and check the profiles, but he did say that with other consoles they were erased. I went ahead and emailed the sheriff the "license plate" sticker # that was on the xbox 360 console box. I hoping since it was a refurb from overstock.com they put that sticker on it with the serial number and called it a license plate. I dont know.

Very sorry to hear you were robbed, that just sucks. The same thing almost happened at my place, but the kid spotted my camera, and ran away (not before ripping the screens off 4 windows)

Check the receipt if you still have it. Some stores scan the serial number barcode (like circuit city used to) and print it on the receipt to prevent fraud.
