OK, sorry if this has been asked and I did search the net and here, but very limited info was found.

New to the 360 Mod scene, but not modding in general.

Can the Lite-on DVD SOHW-822s be used for reading the 360 disc to make a backup of it?

Thanks guy's for anything you can give me regarding this matter.

First off, Welcome... secondly, yes, With the recent developments thanks to the awesome work of extremely dedicated people the world now has Ixtreme1.6 with the ability to rip from any drive, no longer kreon's only, There are tut's around for this, check the tutorial section(its even in the release notes if you dont want that in depth) good luck!

Thanks for the info and Welcoming.

So in order for me to be able to use the above(PC) Lite-on DVD drive for reading the 360 disc to make a backup of it:

Now my question(s),

I would need to get the Ixtreme 1.6(0800) firmware for the Lite-on drives, correct?

Then use Jungle Flasher to flash the drive, correct?

Thanks again for the help!! smile.gif

Might have more question(s) on the way. I am doing what I can to research this info but it is a bit confusing, which is why I ask. smile.gif

At least the last time I checked the 0800 firmware is only for the xbox 360 dvd drives , not regular liteon drives etc.

So dunno where u getting that information about ripping with any drive.

U either need a Kreon drive, or a Xbox 360 DVD Drive.

1. Well from what this person states from the above quote:-----^

2. From this info from that particular Firmware:

QUOTE
Team HyperX Presents IXtreme 1.6 0800 firmware for Benq, Samsung and Liteon drives
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IXtreme fw for Benq, Samsung and Liteon drives!

Features
--------

-Common API designed for easier application use!

-Support for SS V2!

-Direct 0800 mode for game dumping including SS v2!

This firmware is =NOT FOR USE IN A CONSOLE= and is provided
with the intended use of being in a dedicated "ripping" drive.

This means:
a. Does not need your DVD key,
b. Does not need spoofing as another drive,
c. Does not need to use the tray half open and
d. Does not need to use the activate.iso to use this firmware on the pc.

More Info
---------

SS v2 supports multiple timing samples for challenges type 5 and 7, storing them in the SS. This is a pre-requisite for SS v3 which has support for the so called AP2.5 check. Since this has never been used or may never be used by MS we will adopt a wait and see approach and continue to monitor for its usage.

ix16 0800 Commands
-----------------
AD 00 FF 02 FD FF FE 00 08 00 00 C0 - SS/CPRMAI

AD 00 FF 02 FD FF FE 00 08 00 ID C0 - SS Challenge ID

12 00 00 00 30 C0 00 00 00 49 58 01 - ix Cmd 1 - Dumps key and rev 0x30 bytes

12 00 00 00 24 C0 00 xx xx 49 58 02 - ix Cmd 2 - Output 0x800 bytes from ram address

12 00 00 00 24 C0 00 00 00 49 58 03 - ix Cmd 3 - Toggles Lock/UnLock Game partition

So anyone else have input on this, or clarification?

The firmware is for Xbox 360 DVD drives being used on PC to rip images (hence not for use in console)

If u goto xbins and browse the directories, u can see that it is only for Liteon DG1612S

Yeah, you need a Kreon drive or an Xbox 360 dvd drive to properly rip games. You use the 0800 firmware on a retail Xbox 360 dvd drive for use inside a computer.

Well I have a second 360 here, just have to wait till wednesday when I get some money to get the ribbon cable that goes from the Laser to the board.

Then I'm going to see about flashing it and then use it in my comp for backing up my games. Thanks for the link, but I'm here in the States, but I would just go to newegg to get a drive if something should go wrong durning the flashing.
