>> foundmy.com has apparently released a solution to get key data from a LiteOn.
[QUOTE]
The Foundmy DVDKey83 Retrieval Service enables you to retrieve your drive key from your Liteon 83850c drive.

This will allow you to facilitate a replacement drive in case your original drive fails.

This is done without any hardware tools or modification just a simple 360 Power Unit or Connectivity Kit

Our service will, after collecting some initial data from your dvd drive and combining it with already known data, calculate the key for your drive.

There are a few easy steps you have to do to get your key:

If using Windows

1 - Download and install Portio32 Package -Click here
2 - Download and and unpack Lo83info_32.exe -Click Here
3 - Connect your Liteon 83850c drive to your PC via SATA
4 - Run Lo83info_32.exe (sata port) and follow the prompts
5 - A file will be saved with a drive unique name as a .bin
6 - After purchasing this service, you will get an email requesting this file.

If using Dos -

1 - Download and unpack lo83info.exe - Click Here
2 - Connect your Liteon 83850c drive to your PC via SATA
3 - Run Lo83info.exe (sata port) and follow the prompts
4 - A file will be saved with a drive unique name as a .bin
5 - Rename this file to correct name format
6 - After purchasing this service, you will get an email requesting this file.

You will receive your drive key in an electronic delivery via electronic transfer only (email) once the process has been completed!

If you do alot of repairs and require the ability for larger quantity of this service, do contact us for larger quantity pricing!

This site has apparently been validated by several users so far and appears legitimate. iXtreme will likely be released soon in response to this method!

$42 .... Just to get a the DVD Key. No Thanks! I would only pay that if was for unlimited usage, but its not. That's way too much just to have someone tell you what the key is. I think I will wait for a free solution.

^what she said, this is rather lame.

i don't even have the new drive, but still hopefully there will be a better home solution in the future, whether it hardware or software based

i mean come on, i suppose this is better than nothing but still.

Just be patient, there will be a method to do it without having to pay $42 or having to use any hardware to mod them. sleep.gif

$42 just to decode data out of a .bin is ripping ppl off imo, that's even worse than those remote cell phone unlocking services.

Hopefully this program works on the 'old' Liteons too and if we get enough results, we could get the key to decode the bin ourselves.

ps. Is this news are an ad for foundmy?

This doesn't help anyone except the Foundmy people.

It would have been best to wait a little longer for TeamJungle to finalize their free solution and release it once the drives were even more widespread.

If you're thinking of ordering it, wait a few more days and send that $42 to TeamJungle.
