Well i found an old 50gb laptop hard drive that works so i figured id replace my old 8gb drive with it(already got the 2.5 to 3.5 IDE converter). But i cant seem to tell if laptop drives are lockable and i don't think they list laptop hard drives that are lockable on the hard drive compatibility chart.

If this is the case i understand that i will need a modchip to perform a tsop flash will this modchip be ok?

This should be all the equipment i need to swap in my laptop drive right?

My laptop drive model is a hitachi Travelstar IC25N040ATMR04-0

- thanks for reading -

Either tsop flash or get a modchip to bypass the locking limitation of the retail bios. The 2.5 adapter comes with the power adapter?

Thanks for the reply, Yes the 2.5 adapter comes with the molex connector.

Just wondering if those solder less mod chips work just as good as the solder ones?

I'm a softmod guy and next in order of preference, tsop flash. If I have to choose, I'll pick a soldered modchip

you dont need a modchip to flash the TSOP, if you already have a softmod installed you dont need anything other than soldering the write enable points to flash the TSOP (you can flash with evox or eurasia)

yes, if you have a 1.6 you will need a modchip

i was referring tot his part:

QUOTE

you need a modchip OR TSOP flash, with a 1.6 you cannot flash the TSOP, so modchip is the only option
