so im at *insert popular game store here* and im telling the guy about ps3 paying ps2 games, and he claims the only model that does is the 60gb model.. well i tell him i have an 80gb model that does from a motorstorm bundle and he never heard of it and didnt believe me that they ever released such a thing. so it got me wondering.. is the 80gb that plays ps2 games a rare find?

I think there is one more way to look at it. As when store recruits knowledgeable people, they lose touch with specs and game titles. so they are not always updated with games. so it happens.

It depends on the store. Never trust big box employees for anything. Smaller stores the guy might know but things like the backwards compatibility of PS3's I wouldn't expect from a guy at the store that probably owns a 360.
