360 Modification USB Drive v1.6 Revision 4
Posted by XanTium | August 30 18:57 EST | News Category: Xbox360

FrostyTheSnowman released a new revision of his 360 Modification USB Drive(info).

What's new/fixed in v1.6 Revision 4:
* Added support for Lite-On DG-16D2S Revision 83850C
* Added new 'FrostyTheSnowman' logo (thanks Shinho!)
* Replaced FirmTool (by Caster420) with LiteTool (by Klutsh) for Lite-On drives
* Removed DummyGen for Lite-On drives (no longer required thanks to LiteTool, thanks Klutsh!)
* Replaced 'USB Drive Format Tool' with 'Bootable USB Drive Creator Tool' (custom-made for me by Team Modfreakz)
* Typo fixed in HTML code (thanks yaywoop!)
* Replaced HIMEM.SYS with FDXXMS.SYS (better memory management)
* Updated the 'Creating Your 360 Modification USB Drive' tutorial
* Added a small note in the menu about not using spaces in the 'directory name' due to MS-DOS limitation (thanks Guentha!)

Official Site: n/a, by FrostyTheSnowman
Download: n/a (contains modified FWs)

I WISH, but that's not how it works.

You'll need your PC for this to work and to update the drives firmware. This tool just simplifies the process compared to how "hard" it use-to be.

What is the exact error you get?

Does it say 'can't get inquiry data'?

Are you sure your port is correct?

Are you 100% sure you are following the instructions exactly? (the 83850c drives are really picky, you need to follow the directions word for word)

well the only part the help part asked for is to turn it on open the drive cut the drives power and push it back in right? then when i get to the real dos steps its just the firmware dump error before i can acually type anything or push enter

Do i still need a spear to modify liteon drives if i use this package?
Or can it all be done through the seriall port? I have a xecuter v3 but no spear. And I was hoping to avoid buying one.

Lite-On 74850C drives still require the spear/probe.

You are pushing the drive half-way back in, correct?

Also, this tutorial assumes that when you connect the SATA CABLE and the POWER CABLE to your drive that the POWER CABLE/CK3 is already supplying POWER to the drive (or your 360 is turned on, either way happy.gif).

What is the exact error you see at the 'black screen' (the DOS area, where the firmware validation is failing for you)?

Will this work with a USB Spear/Probe? I just ordered the Maximus USB Extraction tool.
