Is there any danger in using a standard SATA cable and extending the 360's dvd power cable?

I think the legs on it are alright since I'll be putting a fan under it i think. Is there any good material to damper noise from the dvd?

no harm in that, seen it done many times. however, im not sure if u meant this, but if ur not putting it in an enclosure the vibrations that it creates will cause it to perform poorly

as for noise dampening, idk

Ahh... maybe I can put it in something but does it have to be specifically an enclosure?
