Hi all

2 questions only:)
l'm planning to do this mod on my hdd enclosure: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=707691
as lm not in the states and cpustuff.com wants 16 bucks just for shipping the sata to esata bracket l decided to buy this cable : http://cgi.ebay.com/SATA-Male-eSATA-Cable-...=item3cafe0d87a

Question no.1: My external hdd is 1tb and l would like to use only 500gb for the xbox and the rest for pc storage, is this possible with this mod?

Question no.2:If yes, how?

Regards from Sweden!

I can't get my 3tb hdd to format. It shows up under memory as a usb drive but will not format using the xbox360 from the nxe, it gives me an error when I try to customize or configure the drive. I tried formatting it on the PC as logical and as primary, fat32 using EASEUS Partition Master 8.0.1 Home Edition. I also tried formatting it with 3 partitions, thinking the 3tb might be to much, but that didn't work. It doesn't show up in fsd2 or xex menu either. I'm not trying to use it an xbox drive but as an external drive to backup my scratched dvd's and to also put media on it. The usb hdd I have is a 3.5" 3 TB Seagate Expansion External Drive. I have a Seagate 2.5" protable 1 TB FreeAgent GoFlex HDD which works fine. So I know I'm using the right process to get an external to work, it just will not work on the 3 TB drive.

Can someone please help

I got it working using a program called FAT32 GUI Formatter. I use this program to format the drive to fat32 and unchecked quick format. Now the whole volume of the drive shows up in fsd2 and xex menu. Formatting the drive took about six hours.

My adaptor "Solderless SATA adaptor for JTAG-hacked Console" Works perfectly whith this setup...
You need (exept the adaptor):
a sata-->esata cable (sata in one end and esata in the other end)

Sorry to drag this thread up from the cold. Wait, no. Not really sorry because it deserves to be seen.

I was wondering if anyone has rewired a DVD power cable to power the drive internally (replacing DVD). I mean, it has all the outputs so it should be fine, just haven't seen anyone actually do it.

Hey everybody!

If I add another sata drive, as described in this posting, will I be able to have 2 hard drives with simultaneous access between the two? Or can only 1 be accessible at a time? I plan on leaving the DVD ROM drive in tact too....

Thank you

Yes, the only difference between the 360 HDD SATA connector and a typical one is the absence of the 12v line.

If you added in the 12v line then you would be set, and you could use the 360 HDD SATA connector with any size HDD you like. happy.gif

The easiest way would be to use a SATA power/data extension cable, and simply cut the yellow wire and connect it to 12v.

Here's an example: (it's rather simple/lame example, but i'm bored at work and it seemed like fun to make)

Hey Frosty

Thanks for the awesome tutorial

Here's my caddy modification. This way I'm able to switch between the kids bigger drive and my original drive.

this looks very fine !

can you give me the pinout order on your order ?

i'm working on a brand new mod and / or version . a better one, i mean the internal 3.5" will Fit the DVD enclosure !

i'm verry interested by soldering on top of the motherboard because flipping the motherboard up^side down on evrey test is verry long and takes time ! .

i will post photos after you give me order .

but i can also describe my pboblem !
i've the same problem as many people here ... the E68 error ! i did the soldering and the ground soldering but the xbox seems to be not recognize my HDD :/

i'm also using the 12V @ 1.5A directly from DVD drive ! i also take the 12 V from the cable
