Well i just upgraded my hd with a 200 gig one. I softmoded just like the original one. Make an exact copy of it. Now it seem that some games I have will work with the original drive but not my new drive. Why? I tried eveything I could think of. They start up and freeze before the game fully starts. Ex. is crimson skies. Any info or experience with this. Thanks

Wipe the contents of E:\CACHE and the X/Y/Z partitions. If that doesn't do it, backup E:\UDATA and TDATA then wipe them out too.

Well I got a new problem. I reinstalled firmware using xboxhdm v 1.9 and forgot to lock it before connecting it to xbox and now I can't do anything to it. When I try to run unlockx it says that it is not lockable. It used to say it was and was able to lock and unlock it. I have the password for it but how do I manualy type it in using unlockhd -p. I even tried to fdisk it but that also don't work. It must be locked some how.

XBoxHDM can't do squat to firmware. You might need to be more descriptive.

What does the X-Box do when you try to boot off the drive? Throw an error 05?

When I boot I get your xbox requires service. There is a 06 in white. I guess that is my error code. I need to know how else to unlock my drive. I don't care about losing data. I tried everything I could think of.

OK I know what I did wrong. When I created my new xboxhdm boot disk I used the eeprom backup from my factory drive. I tried to unlock using that password with no luck. Does a hd lock by itself when installed in xbox. I did not lock it first. The drive is locked somehow but don't know how or why.

The console does not lock the drive automatically.

Keep in mind, some of the unlock commands included with XBoxHDM will open the lock on the drive, but won't actually disable it (meaning it'll re-lock the next time the drive powers up - same as it would when installed in the console). Before you can apply a new drive passcode, you'll need to fully disable the current lock. Refer to the XBoxHDM documentation for more on which commands do what.

OK well some how I recreated the pc boot disk I made before I mess it all up and my drive some how unlocked it self. OK so I know never to do that again. Now I created a new one and everything works as it should exept again some of my games do not work on the drive and work on my factory drive. I ftp the c and e drive and the eeprom and created the disk from that. So you would think it would be an exact duplicate. Well no. How come. Is there something else I should try. I also tried to install auto installer deluxe with same results. Is there a different installer I could try. I remember reading of a few of them but will it help my problem. THNX.
