So i have an extra one now so im looking to mod it, not even looking to hook it up for live so i dont really care the root i go.

First off, the disc drive is not playing games, only dvd's. so it needs to be flashed anyways, problem is i have a laptop.

Does a usb sata adapter work

The drive is a ts h943 and im running xp

so after this is sorted Should i put a chip in it, im not dumb by any means but i have screwed up an old school xbox trying to chip it 4 years ago, what do you recommend for a sort of noob?

get yourself a conectivity kit and a new laser or drive if you read up there are loads of newb tuts to lead you through the process failing that check out the installers threads im sure if you strip the box down and send the drive someone wil fix it for you always good to have a spare box
