Utorrent Error - Invalid Parameter Options

Has anyone else had this problem...

I've not had it before....i've installed all the releases from 1.72 - 1.85 and all of them give the same error...it starts downloading and then comes up with the error.

I'm really baffled and think i'm going to give up on my love affair with utorrent and move over to deluge

I just want a nice reliable rss capable torrent client.

I use azuraus and it works perfect. I either obtained it in the sarge repos or the my dsl repo don't remember which exactly but It most likely came from sarge it looks like a newer build than what would be available in the my dsl repo. All I had to change to get it to work was the listening port.

I dont understand how to install from the sarge repos....

I'm pretty much a linux noob....i cant even build rtorrent to look at....

Its so confusing...

do you think you could give me some guidance on using the sarge repo...

Enable apt-get in your pull down menu.


Then open up your file manager as root.

Go to /etc/apt/

You will find a file called sources.list open it up

make sure each line you see on this list starts with a #

# "comments those lines out and linux ignores them like they are not there"


then add these to the file


deb http://archive.debian.org/debian sarge main contrib non-free

deb http://archive.debian.org/debian-non-US oldstable/non-US main contrib non-free
deb-src http://archive.debian.org/debian-non-US oldstable/non-US main contrib non-free

deb http://archive.debian.org/debian-security sarge/updates main contrib non-free
deb-src http://archive.debian.org/debian-security sarge/updates main contrib non-free



Once your done exit out to a command prompt use this command

apt-get update


you are done.

But at this point I would get a package manager since you are a noob to do this use this command

apt-get install synaptic


if it does not put an icon for you open a terminal and use this command to start it

synaptic



With synaptic you get a gui interface that shows you what packages are available for install. And installing packages from this interface is pretty much point and click.

Going back to the issue.

I've managed to pin the problem down to filename length or illegal characters.

Sooo now i've come up with the following solution...or the only solution i can think of that will likely work..

Is there any linux script or app that will download me from an rss feed and amend the filenames before saving it to a specified folder.
