Modding and Softmodding as a whole I am familiar with, I have done it with the ps2, wii, psp, and ds. I just need some clarification on what the requirements are for each mod/homebrew compared to my set-up.

I recently had to send my unmodded xbox360 for 3 RROD repairs and it was replaced with a different console than what was shipped. My new console has the following specs:

Model: Pro w/ HDMI and 20GB HDD
Kernel: 8955
DVD drive: Toshiba-Samsung
Manufacturer Location: China (some forums suggested different locations were relative to version)
Manufacturer Date: Replaced with Service date of January 2010
Any Additional Information can be provided if needed.

My question is really, what options are available to me?
If I have read the forums correctly, I can still remove/mount my drive and flash the firmware to play back-up games.
Am I able to Jtag? What is the benefits/advantages?
Are there any homebrew options available to me or am I limited to just playing back-ups?

Thank you for any attention, and especially replies to my post. I have read through some of the FAQs but seem to be having a harder time grasping the topics than I thought I would.

Yes. You can flash the drive to play backups.

You can't JTAG because M$ have most prolly blocked it due to them updating the CB version plus your on the 8955 kernel so would of been able 2 do it anyway.

Your restricted 2 backups. Better than nothing biggrin.gif
