External 1,5tb Fat32 Drive Very Slow Options

hello, i just bought a 1,5TB external drive to connect it with my xbox 360 (western digital elements). the problem is that the drive is very very slow if i format it to fat32 (used h2format or gparted, same problem with a verbatim external drive). it takes about 30 minuts to copy nfs shift from an other hdd.
if i use ntfs or a smaler partiton size like 500gb, i have no speed problems (5 min for nfs shift), but i would like to have one big fat32 partition.

does someone know what the problem causes, is there a way to do this?

It's a limitation of FAT.
Since you need FAT32, having smaller partitions is your best bet.

Also, because it's a removable drive, you probably don't have write-behind caching enabled for the drive either. You can enable it in windows, but you risk losing data you thought you saved if you disconnect the drive before flushing the cache. (clicking Safely remove drive and letting Windows do it's thing.)

microsoft doesnt recommend using FAT32 on volumes larger than 32gb for just this reason (thats why windows wont natively format over 32gb)

they tried to introduce exFAT with vista but it never caught on, lol

If you're using a JTAG'd 360 then you can use the HFS+ format

@beige: thx, write behind catch was the point. it now works like a charm.

Cant understand why xbox supports hfs+ and not ms own ntfs format. that really makes no sense for me.

i dont want to use hfs+ cause i need adtitonal tools for it and if i want to share data with my friends the hfs+ would also be problem. (also if i connect the drive to my linux based wlan router to download files without a pc , and and and...)
