Hi all,

My 360 was flashed last May, but now the DVD drive (Lite-On DG-16DS2 (rev 74850C)) has started to fail and it can take me upwards of 30 minutes to get any games to load. When my drive was flashed, the guy who did it provided me with a Dummy.bin file, and a Lite_CFW.bin file. I'll be keeping these safe as I'm assuming I'll need them. Luckily for me (I think) I have two spare 360's in the cupboard which have had the RROD, so I plan to use the DVD drive from one of these to replace the failed Liteon. I've got a few questions about it which I'm hoping someone can help me with!

Firstly, which model of DVD drive would it be easiest to replace my existing Liteon with? I'm assuming another Liteon, but I have no idea if that is the case. Secondly, I would like to flash the new drive with iXtreme 1.61, is it possible for me to do this after spoofing the drive? And lastly, is it easy enough to spoof the new drive using Jungleflasher? This whole process really confuses me and I've even read the documentation!!

Thanks in advance guys,

Gask.

Use a liteon if you want to use ixtreme LT, or if u just gonna keep it offline, then just use any other drive and cross spoof ixtreme 1.61.

Benq, Samsung are probably the easiest, followed by liteon. Hitachi cross spoofing is bit of a pain, and completely different to everything else.

I'll be using it online, I've been using 1.6 and managed to avoid the banhammer somehow, but figured I may as well upgrade to 1.61 if I'm going to the trouble of putting a new DVD drive in. What are the benefits, if any, of iXtreme LT?

To do the spoofing, I am assuming I use the dummy.bin (from the original Liteon) as the source firmware and the ixtreme 1.61 as the target firmware and spoof source to target?

Edit - I have just tested this, and everything seems to come straight across from the Dummy.bin file apart from the DVD Key. The DVD Key shows when I open the dummy.bin, but doesn't seem to get transferred. I assume this is a big problem?

Edit 2 - To clarify even further, the long string of number does come across successfully, but above that JF says DVD Key @ A030 when I open the Dummy file, but doesn't bring that information down to the iXtreme FW.

It sounds like you've done the spoofing correctly even though the "DVD Key @" string doesn't carry over. Can you provide a screenshot?

Alternatively, you could probably check that all is well by loading the spoofed fw as the source fw in JF. If JF loads everything fine then my gut instinct would be that the spoof is okay.

As for the benefits of ixtreme LT:

iXtreme LT ("LiteTouch") is supposed to mimic the behavior of stock drives and only slightly modify the existing firmware so as to be undetectable (or at least less so). To achieve that goal, it doesn't do any stealth/wave checks so be sure your burned games pass verification in abgx with flying colors before trying to play them.

You can read more about iXtreme LT here.

I'm a newb to this, but couldn't you just swap the board from the old lite-on drive to the new lite-on drive then flash LT using the dummy.bin?
