The drive on my launch 360 has been giving me a lot of read errors lately so I decided to swap it out with the drive in one that has RROD but is out of warranty. I swapped them but then I got the warning about putting the disc in an xbox. So I need to spoof the ID of the drive, but I don't need to flash the ROM so that I can play burned games. Is there a way I can do this or do I have to go all the way and risk having the ban hammer dropped on me?

If there's an easy way, point me to it, if not I can read the tutorials.

360 version: v1 (xenon)
well you need to know what kind of drives they are. are they both the same drive? if they are both, lets say, samsung drives with ms25, then you can just swap the boards that are in the drives.

if one is one kind, and the other drive is a different kind, then youll need to spoof... which requires you to flash the drive.

so unless you have 2 identical drives where you can switch the drive's boards, youll be spoofing (flashing, modding).

read the jungleflasher pdf. get jungle flasher, run it, and youll see a link for the pdf. its a great read!

just to clarify, they don't need to be the same version (i.e. ms25). They only need to be same brand. Since your swapping boards, they version goes with it.
