Try another crack/version of the game.
Head over to [CSDb] and do a search for "Maniac Mansion".

I had to replace "Enforcer - Full Metal Megablaster" from GB64 with another version because the loader used in that crack didn't work with Vice64x.

Btw would it be possible in future version of Vice64X to be able to select custom drive and kernal roms ?
I'm asking because I have JiffyDOS installed in my C64 and I also use it on WinVICE and it improves floppydrive read/write speeds hugely.

This version works fine, it just takes a while to load.

I'm currently looking into this. However the core that Vice64x uses is pretty old. Although I think it may be possible for me to "wedge" something in if need be.

We are also trying to make savestates useable because they would provide an alternative to "quick loading" of a game..

Got a question for you. I noticed that JiffyDos has ROMs for the C64 bios itself as well. Do both ROM images need to be loaded for it to work properly?

Also is the 1541 drive the only one I need to be concerned with? Thanks

Yes both need to be loaded to have any effect.
1541 or 1541-II should be more than enough.

I've been meaning to ask.. what would I need the 1541-II for?

Thanks

The 1541-II is just an updated and more reliable version of 1541.

As far as emulation goes there's really no need to add it, but on real C64 hardware that's the one to go for.
That's why I said 1541 or 1541-II. wink.gif
