MS Still Lobbying to Sell Consoles in China
Posted by XanTium | August 11 00:30 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From gamepolitics.com:
[QUOTE]
While Microsoft's Xbox 360 is made in China, it still isn't available for legal purchase there, nor is Sony's PlayStation 3 or Nintendo's Wii, but the Redmond, Washington-based company isn't giving up hope.

Microsoft executive Zhang Yaqin told the Shanghai Daily that the company still hopes to receive approval to sell the 360 in China, but that "... it all depends on the government." There's still no set timetable for launch and the issue involves "several government bureaus," which, of course, only adds multiple layers of bureaucracy.

Meh, no surprise. Scumbags run China. It's alright for them to flood the world with their crap quality products, but when it comes to importing their stricter than the nuns who teach at catholic school.

I am pretty sure selling 360s is not something that is heavily enforced.

FYI, there were heaps of places selling 360 pirated games for 5 RMB when I visited in June. That's less than 1 USD.

360 is everywhere, just not through official channels that's all.

It is true, I am living here in China for some time and you can find all kinds of consoles everywhere and pirated games made by professional burners costs less than a dollar, perfect quality. I even bought my jtag console last month Jasper brand new, came from Japan never used, hehehe

another good example of why we americans have power...
the power to make cheap shit in some illegal bunker and then sell it for 5 times the price
and on top of that.. the little 12yr olds can't even play the xbox they just built..

Have you ever been to China? There's Wi-Fi just about everywhere in urban places. And half of them are open. And it's communist, not fascist. Get your social ideology right.

It never struck me that Xboxes were banned in China. I see 360s, PS3s, and PSPs everywhere in electronic malls. (Maybe that also explains why the original Xbox did not have a Simplified Chinese item as a language choice.)
