Hi,

I have a hardware modded v1.4 xbox with X2 4983.06 BIOS and a 320GB HDD.
The changelog for 4981.06 and above says it supports LBA48.
I have read that in order to have an F drive that is larger than 256GB, I would need to use xbpartitioner.
I have also read that there is apparently 2 parts to having full LBA48 support. The first part is having an F drive with 32k clusters, and the second part is having a BIOS that supports on disk partitioning.

xbpartitioner reports that my BIOS does not support on disk partitioning, but I ran it anyways to create a 290GB F drive with 32k clusters. It seems to be working. I am currently filling up drive to see if there is any data corruption.

I have read somewhere if you need to have on disk partition support in the BIOS, then I would either need to upgrade to x2 5035 BIOS or patch the 4981.06/4983.06 BIOS. I don't believe I can upgrade to 5035 because 5035 is a 512K bios and the the V1.2 - V1.5 xbox's only have space for a 256K BIOS. I have heard you can patch 4981 to support on disk partitioning using xbtool. You can't patch 4983 because it is encrypted.

How do I patch 4981.06 with on disk partitioning support? I know I need xbtool and the original 4981.06 bios, but what about the patch itself?

Is it really true that the x2 5035 BIOS can only be used on V1.0/1.1/1.6 xbox's?

Regarding on disk partitioning, does it have the same format as a standard mbr as found on pc hard drives?

Is the information I have read correct so far?

Hi again,

After re-reading the nfo file from xbpartitioner. It looks like, if you want 100% lba48 support, you would need to get x2 4977 and patch it with xbtool with lba48 support. This should give both parts. Apparently 4979 and above say they have lba48 support but not fully - they don't have the on disk partition support in them.

Is this correct?

You need X2.4981, Evox M8+, or iND-BIOS.5003. Ind BIOS is easier to configure (it's done from a text file on the hard drive). All support LBA48 with on-disk partition tables.
