Hi,
I have a hardware modded v1.4 xbox with X2 4983.06 BIOS and a 320GB HDD. The changelog for 4981.06 and above says it supports LBA48. I have read that in order to have an F drive that is larger than 256GB, I would need to use xbpartitioner. I have also read that there is apparently 2 parts to having full LBA48 support. The first part is having an F drive with 32k clusters, and the second part is having a BIOS that supports on disk partitioning.
xbpartitioner reports that my BIOS does not support on disk partitioning, but I ran it anyways to create a 290GB F drive with 32k clusters. It seems to be working. I am currently filling up drive to see if there is any data corruption.
I have read somewhere if you need to have on disk partition support in the BIOS, then I would either need to upgrade to x2 5035 BIOS or patch the 4981.06/4983.06 BIOS. I don't believe I can upgrade to 5035 because 5035 is a 512K bios and the the V1.2 - V1.5 xbox's only have space for a 256K BIOS. I have heard you can patch 4981 to support on disk partitioning using xbtool. You can't patch 4983 because it is encrypted.
How do I patch 4981.06 with on disk partitioning support? I know I need xbtool and the original 4981.06 bios, but what about the patch itself?
Is it really true that the x2 5035 BIOS can only be used on V1.0/1.1/1.6 xbox's?
Regarding on disk partitioning, does it have the same format as a standard mbr as found on pc hard drives?
Is the information I have read correct so far?
