93450c Status 0x52 Options

Hey Guys and Gals. I have a problem with a LiteOn 93450C

Iv been in the buissnes with my own company in 7 years now modding consoles.

Iv done about 50 93450C without problems but this one is giving me greay hair!

This one is a little odd. It has a white label saying 93450C.
All the others has the "original" label but this one looks like its been pasted there after repair or something.

My problem is that I cant get it to go to status 72. Iv cut and meassured everything and it looks ok. I use Maximus Xtracor and Vampire.

I only get status 52. Iv tried this like 20 times now.

What might be the problem?

I've seen loads of those stickers....most likely a refurbished drive from MS.

You tried a slightly lower resistor, I've had a couple that needed 18 ohm when others were fine on 22?

I'm not going to patronise you by asking if your soldering/trace cutting is OK.

The soldering and cuts are ok, as always

But I havent tried the resistor.

I always used the Xtractor and Vampire and is there a possibility to change the resistor on that ?

I'm not sure what yours comes with, wasn't there a switch that changed between 18/20/22 ohms or was that only on a later model. Maybe yours is set for 22, I'm sure you can measure it pretty easily.

I use a homemade vampire spear with 18 ohms and it's always worked fine since the first hiccup I had using 22.

Yes most likely you just need another resistor. If nothing works you could mail it to me I could try it. Never had any problems with the 93850c's I have done.
But as Buzzcut said try another resistor first.

on your xtractor by the molex power jack is some various pads. solder a wire to teh grd pad and the 3.3 pad. solder a 20 and a 22 ohm resistor to the end of the grd wire in a Y formation so you can use which ever you want. then cover the exposed wire w/ shrink tube. now you can use those wires like a vampire, just unprobe 101/122 after you get x72. don't forget to cut the ends of you wire/resistors at an angle so it will make a good point for probing.
