I have a bunch of 360's but they all suck for media streaming, you need to be logged in, can only watch certain format's blah blah. Anyways XBMC is 1,000,000 times better so I've taken one of my original xbox's which has been softmodded since softmodding was all the rage back in the day.

Anyhow, its got XBMC installed, and all my media is being streamed to it, now I'd like to install linux on the box so I can browse the web every now and then (I have made a usb adapter from a controller)

Now I have the second xbox's HDD, can I plug this into the ide cable, and use 2 HDD's? one will have my normal stuff on it, the other will be linux?

Can I FTP the entire iso (extracted of course) to somewhere on the HDD? Would the be the same as installing it? I want to be able to save files etc I dont want to just be running a live cd.

Also, I have a ~20 gb IDE HDD from an old PC I dont use anymore, would it be possible to format that HDD, and stick it in the xbox, along side my other HDD?

You can only have two hard drives if you run cromwell BIOS and set up the Xbox just to run linux i.e. a native install. An Xbox that can run games can only have one hard drive, but you can run linux as an application.

The Gentoox web site has detailed instructions on how to install linux in both modes.
