Kinect Dash 12611 + Jtag , Optional Media Update Wont Work Options

after updating to 12611 , i tried to play a movie, (mp4 converted from mkv, just like ive done a hundred times)

said i needed the media update. ok, no big deal. maybe it needs to be "installed" again

i FTP'd over the update , same way i did initially setting up the jtag

i just did an overwrite of the file already there


except it wont work now. i get the error code saying i need the update
i tried playing a movie i watched before on the previous dash, no luck. its not the movie.

when i check memory settings, it says its installed


so.. did something change with 12611?

any ideas why the media update doesnt seem to work now?

as far as i know u need to be connected to live for any media to work (assuming ur not connected)

Hmm. Are you using a retail hdd? If you are, why not throw it on a retail box, connect to live, download the update and try that?

same thing happened on my two jtag's, do you have avatars working on the new 12611 dash? After reflashing and patching the consoles, i did a system update to install any files that were missed from bestpigs freeboot after flashed the nand and media played 100% again. d/led it(system update) from xbox.com unzipped and chucked it on a flash drive(usb stick) let me know if it fixed ur problem

yeah i did the exact same thing for system updating

avatars work fine.

one additional update..
without the media update installed, when i go to video library, there is a circle with a slash next to the movie (as in cant play this!)

with the media update installed, there is a different thumbnail next to movies (a little movie screen looking thing), but i still get the error

Only other thing I can think of is possibly applying dashlaunch patch 2.07 if you havent already?

I havent actually had the same problem after a system update, after i flashed the nand with the updated dash(12611), and install the missing files through the proper system update(ms) I then install the dashlaunch patch latest version being 2.07 and then run the optional media update through yaris swap and copy fresh to the 00000002 directory

Might b the media centre extender problem, after u do the dashlaunch patch set up the media centre again delete the old extender settings on the pc and Start from scratch creating a new one.

Hopfully you can sort it out, it would suck if you couldnt use it as a media player i'm sure some 1 here will b able to point you in the right direction

dashlaunch didnt work

i couldnt find any info on what it was supposed to fix for media

oh well. something is screwed. i have a profile problem also, cant copy it

i thought kinect device and its dash and apps were not compatable with jtag?

I did the same thing copying update over manually and signing w/ yaris swap and i cant get this to work either.. anyone got a suggestion? i updated w/ bestpig tool also. My 360 used to play avi files no problem until update now all it will play is wmv files. avi files are just a black screen. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!

UPDATE

I figured out what was wrong.. i copied over the systemupdate folder from 12611 update on to usb hdd and updated. now my 360 plays avi files no problem. I also have the optional media update installed FYI. Make sure you do the freeboot nand update to 12611 before updating because you will ruin jtag.
