Hi, I just acquired my first JTAg Xbox 360 it has the latest dash and Freeboot version on it.

I actually know very little about what I can do with my JTAG Xbox, can anyone please advise where I should start?

The first thing I would like to do is make my HD install games G.O.D., after that I'm open.

THANKS!

You are getting those type of answers because really why jtag if you do not know what to do with it?

This is taken from the sticky in the newbie forum:

2. JTAG/freeboot - This is what you want if you want to do everything homebrew such as alternate dashboards, emulators, running backups from hard drive without the disk, etc etc. This type of mod is OFFLINE only and will get you a very fast ban if you should log into live by accident.

It looks like by your question you want to install games to a hard drive to play from...

well that is exactly what you do then.... You need to research HOW to install games on a jtag system and go from there. No one is going to tell you how to do it, if you do not even research it. Your question is so open no one will just sit back and explain every process. So start with one thing, do it, then move on to something else .

If you have specific questions you will be better off, if you read the forums a little more....MOST of these answers are already answered many many times....you just need to get your questions down to more specific ones related to ONE topic at a time.

Good luck.

Here's an idea. Rather than being a self righteous jerk, either help someone out or DON'T bother posting.

I DID google it first and found losts of old and conflicting details. Just wanted someone to save me some time (I have 2 kids smile.gif and point me in the right direction, something I would happily do for someone else (as you will see from my past posts).

You see unlike you unhelpful jerks that just told me to google it, one really cool member of this forum PM'd me and gave me a few pointers.

That's ALL I was looking for!

After his much appreciated short message with the name of of few programs that I should be looking to use (wow really put himself out!), I had Xex Menu, NXE2GOD and the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility hack all installed and running great within an hour.

Seriously just a few pointers is all I asked for! For instance in case anyway else finds this and is looking for the same, let me help you where these guys didn't!

First thing you need is something that will boot your hacks/homebrew/games. Currently your best choice is XEX Menu, grab the ISO from Xbins. Here's a great guide to get you to Xbins with ease -

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=570248

Once you have burnt the Xex Menu ISO to a CD you can boot it, and install the your HD. Here's a guide for that -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQ-w38C9NSQ

Now you can run great programs like NXE2GOD (turn your installed games to Games on Demand), Emulators or any other homebrew (in XEX format_ right from Xex menu. You can also navigate your files.

After that, look probably want to look into running XBLA or full games from an external drive and installing Freestyle dash.

After I got to grips with most of this I found this great beginners guide -

Good luck smile.gif

Thanks for the info, parabolee. I hear what you say about people not wanting to help out with a few simple words. What- are some people that resentful because they had to research something themselves before, and now they don´t want to help others? Man, I get tired of dingalings always pointing others to "google" and crying "we´re not gonna spoon-feed you".

Thanks for the nfo included,I'm also new to the 360. Rather naively I replied to a post that was over a year old and as a result the post was removed, apparently there are rules against this,I'm not sure if it's okay up to 364 days but not kool after a year,I've yet to be informed.
I agree that when one first enters a new console forum it's confusing. So much old nfo that no long has universal relevance and its generally assumed that you have at least some prior knowledge. A newbie section should and more often than not does receive a fair amount of lame questions. Some forums expect people to donate to the cause for spoon feeding advice which is fair imo. What isn't as reasonable but unfortunately more often the case,is people somehow attaching their worth as a human being to their level of knowledge to a particular subject. Likewise if another person is lacking in knowledge within this field the "wise one" feels it appropriate to denigrate the worthless and wretched "newbie".
