I need to 'update and fix' a downgraded PS3 3.41 that killed bluRay movies and there's a bunch of new CFW's popping out of thw woodwork. Looking at Kmeaw and Waninkoko... do any fix BluRay downgraded issue or do I have to downgrade further to 2.10 and then up? I'm new to PS3 hacking so trying to figure out the easiest fix ... why is there no talk about these CFW's here?

steer clear of the waninkoko one it is bricking a lot of ps3's especially the 256mb nand versions...look up you version for sure before you try these CFW. i have a working Kmeaw CFW but my blu-ray was working before i installed so i can't really help u there..

Yeah, Kmeaw sounds good, so it boots all homebrew and managers with no USB Jailbreak needed?

I'm just trying to decide if I want to DG to 2.10 and then update or just try and go straight to 3.55 and see if if the OFW fixes the bluRay issue.

Most of what I have read suggest you be on OFW 3.55 before you install a custom firmware. So you will need to update to 3.55 any way.

i think steveo is correct that you need to upgrade to 3.55ofw in order to fix your br playback problem. there is a tutorial on some other sites for getting br playback back on your console, but i do not have a link for you.

everything is happening so fast and yes lots of bricks happening too. i am keeping my console on 3.41 with a dongle for now, but hermes just released a 3.41cfw and a jailbreak payload that can be run on the cfw without a dongle. i am pretty sure this will not help you get back br playback, but i am just pointing out that by next weekend, there will be a dozen more releases.

The owner hasn't dropped off the PS3 yet but I've been reading sites. I've read posts about people with this problem upgrading to OFW 3.55 and still not fixing BD playback. I can't believe the site with the jailbreak downgrade files did not have any warning about this at all. Another post says I must DG to 2.10 then UG to 3.41 OFW to fix playback. I think I will try this first as it seems like it might be safer than going straight to 3.55 OFW.

It was DG from 3.50 to a custom 3.41 from amazebreak.cc PS3 Fat 60GB.

do u need one of those usb dev boards

or is it that some need that board and some dont

but all cfw can play stuff from hdd ?

what im asking is what r the dev boards for if people can softmod....

From what I understand the new CFW's can eliminate the need for USB Jailbreak devices. You can just update to 3.55 Original FW and then install the CFW without the need for any special device.

I think the USB JB keys are still useful for Downgrading, you might need one to go from CFW to OFW? Also they are older and safer, some people are bricking and having other problems with CFW's.
