Hi xbox scene !

in hope that i connected to the right forums, i have a simple fast and easy to answer question to all you pros and developers :

Is it possible to hardcode a specified usb port to a usb port name ?
So i just want that the backport near the LAN-port is allways USB0

If i atm connect an usb stick to a front usb port, this one will be recognized as usb0, and my HDD, allways hardconnected to the backport will be recognized as usb1

Because i've created a casemod and so directly connected the external (now internal) usb drive to the back port, i need it to allways recognize as usb0

Is there a possibility to do something in dashlaunch / kernel ?

(for interested, pics are here )

Thanks in advance smile.gif

I'll go out on a limb and guess at an answer for you. It sounds like something you'd need to disassemble the kernel(HV/dash? idk) and make a patch you could apply on a jtag to be able to do.

Chances that someone is dying to do this to suit your mod, which is not like any other xbox, are slim. But who knows crazier things have happened.

Why exactly does it need to be Usb0 to fit your needs?

hey
first at all, thanks for your reply wink.gif

the problem i have here, and so i "need" such a mod, is :

if i connect an USB stick to one of the front USB ports, THIS ONE is detected as USB0, and my hardconnected usb HDD is detached as USB1
on the hdd are all data i need. FSD, dashlaunch, games etc... i dont have a sata hdd
so dashlaunch just want boot at the second run (at the first run the xbox junst freezes while booting), and FSD need a lotta time to find all games, cause they are stored on a "new" hdd / port

thats annoying ...

so if i could say to my xbox : "Hey, dumbhead! You just have to search on the USB backport to find all data we need to bootup!"

- new usb sticks would be detected as "USB1", "USB2" ...

FSD 2.0 should *not* have this problem.

It doesn't care, internally, whether the drive was mounted as USB1 or USB2...if it has the same device ID, the database will know that the content is exactly where it was found the last time it did a full scan. This code was written for *precisely* this issue...

Hi
Thanks node for your answer.

It seems like this "special function" wont completely work ..

Beside FSD, the dashlaunch stuff is annoying, too

It looks like that there isnt any way to get these ports simply hardcoded? sad.gif

well, from your pics, it wasnt totally clear but it looks like you relocated the usb ports to the ones built into that case, why not just switch up your wiring so the hdd is plugged into the first usb port

there is no way without re-coding the kernel

but the simple way is to just power the 360 on with only the HDD connected at boot

the first device is always USB0

also, if you want you can add a switch to the console to cut power to the HDD so it "resets"
that way if it does show as USB1 you can remove all other devices and "reset" the hdd without powering the console down.

Hm okay
Thanks in advance !

So i should watch my steps, and just connect a new stick AFTER powering on the box
Hopefully there arent any detection-issues then, all the time

Kind regards
