No. Never tap power from the dvd drive unless your stupid and want to kill your xbox. Take it from under the power connector.

iv fixed a few xbox's who have died from that so it does cause problems. and there are alot of people who care about it. you would be a fool to tap into the dvd drives power

Why would you solder it to board when you can easily buy an adapter or just wire it up to a 4pin adapter? Makes no sense tongue.gif

12v power source? And it's easier than buying something else and waiting for it to be delivered. Spending extra money that doesn't need to be spent to me makes no sense.

Extra money, mm.. sometimes you can get extra adapters with fans if you buy the right ones, so when you order a fan, check what comes with it, if it doesn't have what you need, order it with the fan.. At least then if you find a better fan you can just swap it without messing about with de-soldering + soldering again.

It really doesnt bother me, I don't mind soldering. But you can do it anyway you like I suppose. But to me soldering to the board was the quickest, easiest way to go.

Can someone post a pic of where I'd solder this fan: http://www.directron.com/bld09025s1m.html#caption to the bottom of the board... I went ahead and ordered it and would like to install it when it gets here wink.gif
