Has anyone managed to fix the red screen error yet? I've tried just about everything I can find on the net, but looking at it it would seem that the problem is with the NAND chip which apparently is locked into the mainboard, so putting a new NAND on there is not an option or is it? Has anyone tried taking a chip from another board and fixing it on the problem one?

The best solution is to send your PS3 to SONY and pay for a refurb at half price. Otherwise you will waste your time trying to replace the NAND that might not be the issue, in my opinion.

I have a working PS3, plus a few spare boards. I regularly work on motherboards and the like, replacing components or re-balling BGA components etc. I have repaired many PS3's mostly with the YLOD using infra red to re-ball them, so am competent on replacing the NAND chip. I wondered if anyone else had done it and got any results?
