Got a console in a large pile of tat fixed the RROD now get E65 dead drive so i assume he's bricked it. drive does nothing when powered on.

I CAN get it to show under Dosflash 32 by doing mode b switch and then eject, power off, switch to normal, power on again using xecuter power dongle. it shows as unknown but shows the flash chip type and status is 0x73

It locks up the PC 1 second after powering the drive on, and the PC unfreezes about 30 seconds after i turn the drive off again. Im using VIA card i always use. If I hook it up to motherboards VIA ports instead then i cant get it detected but it doesnt totally lock the PC up but sends CPU to 100% load and runs really slow.

I dont have DVD key and am guessing drive is erased...... Give up now or continue? Or is there anything else i can do to dump the drive?

Cheers

OK AFTER 30+ minutes with CPU at 100% the pc works normal with the drive on my motherboards via port again and i can see and dump the drive in dosflash 32.

Firmware is reported as not a valid firmware, so i cant open it. I dumped twice. Earsed and wrote benq bin to it so drive is usable but obviously I dont have the correct key, as the two dumps when opened are just full of Ys so no data..

Its stuff then if you erased it since now there will be no way to get the dvdkey.
What you should of done is dumped the firmware and opened it in hex to manually check for the key.
If it was all full of Y or F then pull the flash chip off and read it in a programmer and if it was the same then its been erased.
