I used the HeXEn 0.99B11-22 DVD to softmod my Xbox. I chose option #1, the Kingroach method (Kingroach NDURE 3.1).

Using the HeXEn tools menu, I made it load XBMC as the default dash.
However, the MS Dash still loads when I use the eject button to turn on the Xbox.

How do I make XBMC load when I turn on the Xbox with the eject button?

My Xbox has no modchip or any other hardware modifications.

first of all, put HeXEn back in and change it to Krayzies 1.1.1. its a little more stable than kingroach. i cant remember if it automaticly installs Krayzies Xtras, but you need to get that on your xbox and use its dualboot options to install XBMC as both dashes

AFAIR, Krayzie Extras only handles xboxdash/xonlinedash as alternate dash. You'll need to edit nkpatcher settings to boot other dash - and I don't recommend it unless you know nkpatcher well. Anyway both Krayzie's and Kingroach's uses ndure fonts. The only differences are the versions of nkpatcher used (11_U02 and 11_U04 with kingroach settings and Krayzie's inserts a s.xtf.

I have helped somebody to insert 3 s.xtf for Kingroach's to solve the black screen problem at boot in the past. The links are somewhere inside the xboxhdm2.2 thread.

The stability of both packages are the same if configured the same way.

I would like to thank both of you for your answers in this matter.

I have tried to use Krayzie Extras and ldotsfan is correct, it only changes between xboxdash and xonlinedash.

I do not have experience editing the nkpatcher settings but I can learn quickly. How would I edit the nkpatcher settings for my situation? Is it a task similar to this post ?

I guess there are three things that I need to know:
1) I want to make sure I am using the correct nkptacher setting source file
2) I need to edit the tray boot option so it runs the same dash as the power button.
3) After I edit the settings file, how do I utilize it?

Yes, that should work. You edit

define OPEN_PATH '\Device\Harddisk0\Partition2\xodash\x2onlinedash.xbe'

to point to your preferred dash when eject is pressed.

Here's what you do with the output file. The post is about using config_runtime.inc to change LED colours, but the principle is identical.

You'll need one more parameter: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=3095819

CODE

%define OPEN_DASH_WITH_NKP

Another method:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=4235645
I vaguely remembered trying this some time ago - read 2 years back.

I got it working! Thank you all for your help.

For future reference here is what I did:
In the config_runtime.inc file I...
commented out "%define PATCH_BACK_MS_KEY"
set "%define PB_OPEN_PATH" and "%define OPEN_PATH" to the dashboard of my choice
I compiled the file, named it NKP11_config_open.bin, and put it in the NKP11 folder.
If I understand correctly, NKP11_config_open.bin is only used when the Xbox is powered on using the eject/tray button, so this suits my purpose perfectly.
