XeLL Updater v1.1
Posted by XanTium | June 18 08:11 EST | News Category: Xbox360

Tuxuser released a new version of his homebrew application that will allow you to easily update just the XeLL part of your freeBOOT NAND. It'd been updated following fbBuild v0.3's release yesterday, and adds support for the 13146 kernel:
[QUOTE]
XeLL Updater for freeBOOT - v1.1
for Kernel 9199, 12611, 12625 and 13146
Based on dashlaunch installer by cOz

This little tool is needed to update XeLL in Flash/NAND properly. The freeBOOT/fbBuild Rebooter has a different layout compared to XBR or pure-XeLL images so the XeLL binary isn't at the beginning of a NAND Block anymore.

Using the old updslot0/updslot1-Method (which worked on XBR and XeLL Images just fine) you would render your freeBOOT console non-booting (until you reflash it externally of course).

This application however works for freeBOOT/fbBuild :) It reads the specific part of the NAND, injects the XeLL binary and writes the blocks back.

Use it on Single-NAND freeBOOT only (9199, 12611, 12625 and 13146).

Greetz to cOz (and his strong nerves ;D), Cancerous, Redline99, GliGli, Ced2911, Razkar, Nathan and the whole team :)

1. Either by booting with the eject button or by running xell launch.
2. I believe the latest versions (xell reloaded?) support HDMI

Sorry for the schoolboy questions....just want to be sure.

I have a jasper jtag (not sure if its a 16mb or more as didn't do this one myself)

It is running on the main Kinect dash (12611 I think - need to check)

Not sure whether its Xell or Xellous (I had a xenon which I jtagged myself ages back, but after that died and bought a new jasper premodded I kinda switched off from the version).

So would I be right in thinking....

1) This only updates Xell to the newer version......NOT the dashboard also?
2) What are the benefits of being on this newer version?
3) This updates automatically by just running it from USB? no adding the key files or original bin dumps etc?

ive not looked into xell/xellous releases for ages so what i say now might be out of date

xell-reloaded has better VGA resolution,USB detection,networking,using linux
xellous has great tools to read nand info over network to pc ect

now many people like me want xellous with the nand backup featues and also the new hdmi fix thats on xell
but as far as im aware there isnt a xellous with everything from xell-reloaded to hdmi support

so i use xellous on the nand and then just boot xell with hdmi support using fsd2 and xelllaunch.xex

is there any benefit to updating xell if my jtag is working fine with fsd and dash launch?

the only time i used xell or xellous was to get my key

the last time i messed up my xbox it was xell that saved me,but i guess i had an older version cuz that didnt have hdmi support I could only get picture when i connected with component.

So I am aware of the usefullness of such software I kindly ask people here,

-Can the old xell still save me if I update to new jtag dashboard(13146) or does the new dashboard makes the old versions of xell invalid?Wont I be able to save my jtag with xell on 13146 with older versions of xell?

thanks

How can we tell whether our freeboot image is set to use Xell or Xellous at the current moment?

yes you can still recover by booting with eject button, as long as xell/xellous is still working. and as long as you have a working backed up image

so I updated to the latest Dash and now the xell gives me an error,i guess i will have to update it.

I was depending on the old xell's ability to flash the nand with the working image from a usb thumb drive so I dont really feel like updating,I have heard the new xell dont support that kind of flashing nand image : / is it ture do you have any ideas?
thanks for the answer btw

Hello,

Has anyone tried to update to xell reloaded with this tool on 13599 jtag?

Or you have to write the nand for that?

I am a little confused.
