Ps3 Fan Specs, please help me Options

I have a ps3 40gb model.I want do do some fan moding but nowhere on the internet i cant find the fan specifications.Please can somebody tell my the ps3 oem fan secifications like voltage and curent and more?Please help

You haven't done much looking then. It's a 12vdc, 2.2A, PWM (3.3v) controlled fan. It's not your typical fan either, so finding a replacement will be a short look as there are only a couple that will fit in place of it. If you plan to do some actual modding then you'd know what most of the specs were already since they're on the sticker on the fan, and if you plan to swap it out for something else then make sure it will move a ton of air, because the PS3 fan does.

Thank you very much.Actually what Im doing is Im going to conect that fan to a external adapter 12V and put some regulation on it.Ill post a video when Im done.

Any 12vdc adapter that can source a few Amps will work, but then you'll need some way to control the fan speed.

The PWM line is 3.3v and has a duty cycle of 20% to 100%, though the fan should have at least 30% put on it at first for a few seconds to ensure it starts up, then it can be set back to 20% to run, but at that slow of a speed it doesn't move much air at all. This is how the PS3 controls it also.

You can use several methods to control the PWM line, from using a 555 setup as an Astable to using the PWM of some PIC. What you can not do is wire up the PWM line to some POT and control the fan speed that way, it's not effective and doesn't work worth a squat that way. Though if you want the fan to run at full speed all the time (100% duty cycle) then you can just put 3.3v on the PWM line and that's that, but it's right noisy.

Sorry if i'm grave digging but it felt wrong to post a new thread when there already was one that concerned my question..

I was wondering what kind of fan that you could fit inside the PS3 Case and or what kind of cooling mods you can do? I was wondering because my friend has a PS3 that breaks down once a month because of overheating. Then he changes the cooling pasta and puts everything back together and it starts working again..

My friend has bought a new PS3 slim so he was wondering if i wanted it. It would be really cool to be able to get a PS3 for the cost of Arctic Silver and a couple of fans..

You're best off to just leave the stock PS3 fan in there, just up the speed of it some. Sony set it to 20% default for whatever reason, and it's just not enough cooling for that setting. If you up it to 40% or more, and can deal with the noise, you'll probably never see the error again.
