Hi

snapped the little latch off the data cable connector on the mobo side, now the drive's data cable wont stay put..

i tried placing the cable in port and taping it down, but the drive wont read any discs..

any ideas on how to fix it or to make it work?

thanks

Danele

ok i got it working by putting the little catch back over the cable inserted into the port, and putting silly putty on both sides.. reading discs now

wondering if its a good idea to keep it like that tho, maybe someone knows about a more permanent fix.. (replacing the port isnt an option..)

If it's working like that, just leave it, won't do any harm.

cool herman, i was just wondering if theres a better, more stable way of fixing it on there, as it isnt my machine (fixed a YLOD for a friend) and dont want it to come undone. crazy or hot glue maybe...?
